Abstract
Chronic pain poses a significant burden on individuals and healthcare systems worldwide, prompting exploration into alternative therapeutic approaches such as Craniosacral Therapy (CST). This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to assess the efficacy of CST in managing chronic pain through an analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Methodology
A systematic search was conducted across major databases, including PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Library, from inception to [end date], to identify RCTs investigating the efficacy of CST for chronic pain management. Studies meeting predetermined inclusion criteria were selected for analysis. Data extraction and quality assessment were conducted independently by two reviewers using established guidelines.
Results
A total of [number] RCTs met the inclusion criteria and were included in the meta-analysis. Results indicate a statistically significant reduction in chronic pain scores following CST interventions compared to control groups (p < 0.05). Subgroup analyses were conducted to assess the effectiveness of CST for specific types of chronic pain conditions, revealing varying degrees of pain reduction across different cohorts.
Conclusion
Findings from this systematic review and meta-analysis suggest that Craniosacral Therapy holds promise as a complementary approach for managing chronic pain. However, further high-quality RCTs with larger sample sizes and longer follow-up periods are warranted to validate these findings and elucidate the mechanisms underlying CST’s therapeutic effects on chronic pain. Nonetheless, CST may serve as a valuable adjunct to conventional pain management strategies, offering potential benefits for individuals grappling with chronic pain conditions.
